In a good way. Mostly. TokyoFlash continues to surprise us with unique watch designs. With their latest, the “Infection” watch, they apparently had sickness on their minds. SWISS WATCHES

Forget diamonds - one Swiss watchmaker is betting on watches made from moon dust, parts of the Apollo 11 rocket and bits of spacesuits to capture consumer cash as an economic slow down bites.
More than 600 watchmakers have the Swiss brand stamp, so Geneva-based Romain Jerome aims to use "inaccessible materials" to set its products apart from rivals such as Richemont's Vacheron Constantin and independent watchmaker Patek Philippe.
"This gives value to the product and the brand. But the material must also be well known and it must be luxurious," Romain Jerome Chief Executive Yvan Arpa said in an interview at the group's headquarters.
In 2007, the four-year-old group sparked controversy with its "Titanic DNA" watches, made from steel and coal from the ocean liner that sank on its maiden voyage in 1912, with some critics saying the timepieces were in bad taste.

Several jewelers at South Coast Plaza and Fashion Island say even with the uncertain economic times, sales of the pricey watches - some costing upwards of $500,000 - are still going strong. At Rolex, one of the most iconic names in the business, there has been an upswing in sales.

To end your suffering, Seiko Instruments, in Japan, has unveiled a working prototype of a Bluetooth watch.
It will connect to your cellphone and display information such as battery status, network intensity, caller ID, and even display your SMSes. When you get a call, you’ll be able to set the watch to either ring, or vibrate, though there is no headset functionality just yet. Which means that if it’s your significant other calling, you’re still going to have to scramble to get to the phone.

Junkers (pronounced Yoonkers) is one of three watch brands owned by Pointtec Electronic GmBH, a German company founded in 1987. The other two brands offered by Pointtec are Zeppelin and Maximilian Munchen.

Description of watch
The Junkers Iron Annie JU52 is an automatic watch with power reserve feature. From the name it is obvious that the watch is inspired by aviation history, in particular the famous German airplane Junkers JU52. The JU52 was designed in 1930, and it incorporated corrugated metal skin to strengthen the plane structurally. The Iron Annie, as the JU52 was also known, was produced by Junkers from 1932 to 1945, and it saw both civillian and military service during that period.
The Junkers JU52 watch traces its roots to the historical airplane and adopts the corrugated metal sheet skin into the dial design. This is the single most important element that differentiates the Junkers watch from other watches.

Yankodesign.com features some really cool concepts. This one’s a watch with a different glitter about it. It’s called the Shine and is studded with gems and also has some cool mechanics. There is a unique laser projection system that is in-built into the watch. A touch sensitive logo has to be touched in order to see the time. There are a total of 200 topazes all over the watch. The whiteness from the ceramic filling makes the watch fitting for a celebrity owner. Let’s just say that the concepts from the site will someday breathe life.

The Shine concept watch knows what you want and gives it with a glint in the eye. The 200 topaz stones will make sure of it.

cK WATCHES

Klein and Calvin Klein have proved their talent in the Paris Fashion Week. The impact as a designer backed their quality watches. Their styles became really arresting to the eyes as well as the mind of many. Calvin Klein Watches are the ones that are ideal to be gifted to the relatives, friends on special occasions. More than time-looking equipment, Calvin watches can be stored in the lockers as even more precious than diamond. As the founder is a designer, the company not only stresses on watches more over other accessories mainly women and even watches that goes with dresses, bags, and shoes were amazing.

CAMY WATCHES

Stroun Frères owned the brand Camy. The firm was founded in Grenchen in 1913 and later became Camy Watch SA.
It houses a Landeron 4750 movement that is marked "". In the pictures below, all three watches contain the L4750 movement and all three are waiting for some love-and-attention. The Camy Geneve is the one in the top right --- sadly, the dial is not in good condition.

IMPERIAL WHITE DIAL WATCHES

The first watches appear to have been made during the early 1500's, but were not reliable at keeping time. They were more of a status symbol worn by the wealthy. Queen Elizabeth I and members of her court wore watches on chains or ribbons around their necks as fashion accessories. They were usually elaborately decorated or often enclosed in elaborate cases. Some early watch cases were in the form of animals or other objects with the watch hidden inside.
In 1785 George Washington had a watch and chain made for his wife Martha. Also, late in the 1700's watches were often worn suspended from chatelaine pins. Ladies' "pocket" style watches continued to be worn on chains or suspended from "watch pins" through the early 1900's. A 1902 catalog shows ladies' enameled lapel "pocket" style watches on matching enameled fleur-de-lis pins. Enamel ball watches appeared as early as 1915, as did ring watches. The first true lapel watch, meant to be worn upside down, that I found was in a 1915 catalog.
From Carolyn Sunday: All antique watch cases marked "14K" are not necessarily solid gold. Many marked 14K are gold filled and were marked so before regulations were in place about karat marking. IMPERIAL WATCHES

I had never given much thought to lapel watches until my good friend Cynthia Fore Miller started a collection. You do know that you have a collection if you have more than 2 or 3 similar items! Since Cynthia had gathered a "large" collection of 8 watches, I decided that others might enjoy the beauty and creativity that went into their design.

DIAMOND

IMPERIAL WATCHES (WITH BEAUTYFULL CASE)

The Ulysse Nardin Imperial St. Petersburg goes straight to the historical love of Faberge eggs by the Russian royalty. Although there is a Faberge watchmaker (no relation to Ulysse Nardin), no one holds the rights to egg decoration and gilding! The Imperial St. Petersburg white enamel dial watch comes in a fancifully decorated gold and diamond decorated enamel egg case. The stand sits on gold anchor shaped feet and features legendary sites from St. Petersburg. The egg case opens with an inner compartment case for the watch. It is a serious reminder of the style of decorated eggs that the Czars loved.
The watch itself is based on the Maxi Marine model. Like the egg, it has an enamel dial, with painted numerals and the St. Petersburg eagle shield. The limited edition watch is limited to 30 watches, and each is made in platinum with a gold rotor visible through the caseback window. Inside is a Ulysse Nardin Caliber UN-26. The automatic movement is certified as a Chronometer. Further, the watch has 200m water resistance; diving for caviar anyone?
All in all it is a rather regal looking timepiece. The Maxi Marine collection has always had a turn of the century (not this last one) nautical look, and the 43mm wide platinum case and black alligator strap are sure to result in a wealthy look. The target audience is bound to love the watch, as it celebrates a time in Russia of which it's people are proud. As much as they don't like to admit I think most countries are proud of their Imperialistic eras.

CITIZEN WATCHES

has taken the futristic route with the ITX21-5014 watch from their Independent line. Behind the machine-like watch hands is a green LCD, turned 90 degrees to the left, that displays the digital date, time, alarms, chronographs and timers. The watch is finished off by a checkered band and engraving along the sidewalls of the watch. While not quite the controlled chaos that best describes the average Tokyoflash watch (who is importing this Citizen watch, btw), it's pretty cool and out there for Citizen, who typically make more boring timepieces. The ITX21-5014 is currently selling for ¥22,900 in Japan, so expect it to cost around $223 in the US. [Tokyoflash via Geek Alerts]

CITIZEN ECO DRIVE WATCHES
